March was a delightful mix of travel, family outings, and rare date nights, all woven together with memorable meals at some fantastic restaurants. From catching up with old friends over breakfast to exploring new pizza spots with the family, this month was packed with culinary experiences that brought us closer together. Here’s a rundown of our March restaurant visits, filled with all the delicious details!

Roots Café: A Cozy Breakfast Reunion

I met up with an old gym friend for breakfast at Roots Café, where we sat in their charming yurt and enjoyed a meal while catching up. I couldn’t resist sticking to my usual: the Mediterranean Omelet paired with the pancake of the day, a mixed berry buckwheat pancake. The omelet was as delicious as I remembered, packed with fresh flavors, and that pancake was absolutely to die for—I could’ve eaten several more if I had the room! I savored every bite so much that there were no leftovers to bring home. The meal was the perfect backdrop for great conversation, making for a wonderful start to the day.

Denver: A Work Trip Packed with Culinary Gems

I had a work trip to Denver this month, and despite the busy days of travel and work, I made sure to carve out time for good meals—both solo and with friends. At the airport, I stopped by Protein Bar and Kitchen and grabbed the Overnight Oats and a Beauty Brew Latte. I love that the latte is a protein-packed coffee drink—it’s the perfect pick-me-up! The oats were delightful, making for a satisfying breakfast before my flight. Once in Denver, I met friends at School House Kitchen and Libations, where I ordered the Teacher’s Helper—their take on an espresso martini—and a classic cheeseburger with fries. The drink was smooth and bold, and the burger hit the spot, creating a great setting to catch up.

Lady Nomada

For dinner, I joined other friends at Lady Nomada, where I opted for the Nomada’s Best Of Plate because I couldn’t decide and wanted to try a bit of everything. It came with birria tacos, chicken enchiladas, and crispy carnitas, served with rice and beans. I paired it with a Passion Fruit Margarita, which had just the right amount of sweetness to complement the meal. The next day was hectic with work, but I managed to have dinner at Postino 9CO with more friends. I ordered a board with four bruschettas: Brie, Apple, and Fig Spread, Smoked Salmon and Pesto, Sweet n’ Spicy Pepper Jam and Goat Cheese, and the Mexican Street Corn Special. To drink, I chose a glass of CVNE Red Wine from Spain, which paired beautifully with the bruschettas. Each one was unique, but the brie and apple and the jam and goat cheese were my favorites.

On my final day, work was chaotic, and I had to rush to the airport. I stopped at Brother’s BBQ and grabbed a BBQ Sandwich and Banana Pudding. The sandwich was juicy, messy, and totally worth it—a perfect dinner before flying home. The banana pudding portion was so large I had to take it with me, enjoying it later as a sweet reminder of the trip.

Hall Pass: A Fun Family Outing After Disney on Ice

Madi and I went to Hall Pass after attending Disney on Ice with one of her friends and her friend’s mom. I love food halls because everyone can get exactly what they want. Madi chose Chicken and Waffles from Blazin Chicken, while I got a Lamb and Feta Gyro with French fries from Lamb and Feta. Both meals were fantastic—we barely had any leftovers! My gyro satisfied my cravings perfectly, and Madi’s love for her dish was clear since she only left one piece of chicken. After lunch, we craved dessert and spotted Pearl Milk Tea Club across the street at the Gateway. On the worker’s suggestion, I ordered a Taro Coconut Milk Tea with boba, and Madi got a Cantaloupe Smoothie with boba. Surprisingly, I loved Madi’s smoothie the most—they use fresh fruit, and it was incredibly tasty. It was a sweet end to a fun day together.

Butte Trip: A Quick Work Visit with Irish Flair

I had another work trip to Butte, Montana, though sadly it wasn’t during St. Patrick’s Day—I’ve heard it’s a spectacular event there, and I hope to make it back for that someday. Still, I made the most of my visit by stopping at some great spots. At the airport, I had lunch at Maggiano’s Little Italy, where I ordered the Italian Sausage Roman-Style Flatbread and a Blackberry Bourbon Sour. The drink had the perfect balance of sweetness and bourbon, and the flatbread was a great serving size for a quick meal. Once in Butte, I met friends at Headframe Distillery for drinks before heading to Shawn O’Donnell’s for dinner. On a recommendation, I ordered the Corned Beef Reuben Boxty and paired it with a Moscow Mule. I was glad I took the suggestion—it was a fantastic Irish meal, making up for missing St. Patrick’s Day.

The next day was busy with work, but we grabbed lunch at Taco del Sol, where I had a Mission Burrito before diving back into tasks. Right after finishing, I had to rush to the airport, where I ate at the only restaurant, Ore Cart. I ordered a Dirty Girl drink—a local favorite made with Headframe’s Orphan Girl Bourbon Cream and root beer—and a sandwich with fries. I didn’t realize how soon my flight was leaving after ordering, so I had to eat quickly, but I at least got to savor the drink. It was a whirlwind trip, but I enjoyed some great spots along the way.

2 Row Brewing: A Rare Date Night with Erik

Erik and I rarely get time alone together, so after a long week of work, we decided to leave the girls at daycare a bit longer and grab a drink at our favorite brewery, 2 Row. We shared some cheese dip and each got a beer—I chose the Tropical Fruit Sour, while Erik went with the Elderberry Blond Ale and Hipacrite IPA. I love how 2 Row has evolved from a bottle shop into a full bar with such a great vibe. The beers were amazing as always, though I wish they had more food options on the menu. It seems like they’re working to expand it each time we visit, which is exciting. It was the perfect way to unwind and enjoy some much-needed time together before picking up the kids.

Bambino: A Long-Awaited Pizza Night

We had been eager to try The Bambino, a new pizza restaurant, for a while. They recently opened, and we initially wanted to do takeout but couldn’t because they didn’t have a phone number listed. Since we picked up the kids late from school, we decided to dine in instead. We arrived at the perfect time, before it got too busy, and secured a table. The kids got a Pepperoni Pizza, while Erik and I ordered the Peach Pizza—with salami, peaches, jalapeños, and honey—and the Mexican Street Corn Pizza, featuring fresh corn, cilantro, onion, and chipotle crema. The pizzas were incredible! I loved the thin crust and fresh dough, and the Peach Pizza was my favorite—a perfect blend of sweet and spicy that left me craving more.

Slice House: A Zoo Day Treat

After a fun visit to the zoo, we decided to stop by Slice House for pizza, drawn in by some great reviews. They offered the option to get slices from their display or order a fresh whole pizza, and we opted for slices this time. As a family, we ordered four: the Wiseguy with spicy Italian sausage, pepperoni, ricotta, and hot pepper oil; the Traditional with thick and thin pepperonis and Italian sausage; the Jazzberry with beef, bacon, raspberry jam, and blue cheese; and a Regular Pepperoni just in case the girls didn’t like the other options. The Jazzberry was phenomenal—the flavor profile was so unique, with the sweet jam and tangy blue cheese working perfectly together. I loved it so much I grabbed another slice to take home! We’ll definitely be back to try more of their pizzas.

Wrapping Up a Tasty March

March was a month of diverse dining experiences, from savoring a mixed berry buckwheat pancake at Roots Café to discovering the unique Jazzberry pizza at Slice House. Whether I was traveling for work in Denver and Butte, enjoying a rare date night with Erik at 2 Row, or making memories with Madi at Hall Pass, each meal brought its own joy and connection. I’m already excited for April’s culinary adventures—let me know in the comments which of these spots you’d love to try or if you have any must-visit restaurants on your list!
